Here we go folks,
Deltora Quest is a series of books, separated into 3 sagas.
The First Saga, is centred around the Belt of Deltora.
The Belt is a magical artifact created by the first King of Deltora, which has 7 gems, each of the 7 gems belong to seven tribes, so this Belt is technically the symbol of their unity.
This magical item, prevents the evil shadow lord, from entering... or in better wording, taking over Deltora.
So bluntly, while the True Heir of Deltora, is wearing the Belt, the people will live in harmony and prosperity.
But after many years (My guess is about century or two... couple dozen generations later)
The Belt is neglected and kept away from the world.
Shadow Lord invades and all is lost.
Or is it?
The King and Queen, managed to escape during the invasion. And had a kid.
Who nobody knows who it is.
Meanwhile... the King's best friend (Who is a blacksmith by the way)
Has been guarding the gem-less belt.
Jarred(The blacksmith), sends his only son out into the dangerous land which is Deltora, to find the gems... which are located in the most dangerous places in Deltora... spread across the land.
Lief... goes off and with two companions, saves the day and finds all the gems (along with dozens of delightful side-quests)
The main mystery through the entire 1st series... is WHO IS THE HEIR?!
And of course at the end you find out.
There are of course... 2 other sagas. But as its a continuing story line... if you don't read the first series you won't get the 2nd or 3rd.
So.... yeah.
Just so there's no confusion... here is the order of the books....

City of Rats
Shifting Sands
Dread Mountain
Maze of the Beast
Valley of the Lost
Return to Del.

The basic message is:
If you need me 'Aim High' and I will come.
Aim High is of course a game the two boys used to play, mentioned in the book. So yeah.
