My Dad did weed in Vietnam...Most men did. it helped the get through the hell they were experiecning. Some people lead lives were they feel traped or depressed so they turn to drugs. Its not the right thing to do. But its easiest for them. When people are living a life of hell, they turn to the closest and easy thing they can.
