I'm going to say something that will probably have me receive a lot of backlash for this....but here goes. And while I don't think this hero is the most hated, I do think he is the most envied by his peers (other heroes) and rivals (villians) alike...which is close....can lead to hatred. He is also probably the most liked. The man, er....um, alien I speak of is none other than Superman.

Such is the price for greatness maybe?

Ok, technically speaking he's of course not a hero, but I never could stand Lobo, too powerful and too macho. I know he started as a joke, but now he's much more than that

I'm also not too fond of Torch either, not that I hate him lol, but come on, without his fire powers, he would be a nobody, he has no great personality or intelligence or willpower or whatever. Thank God Reed is there to save his ass in every comic - yeah I know I'm exaggerating (a bit).

Hm, did I forget somebody ? Let mee see, o yeah, Magneto ! "Hm, in this comic I want to conquer the world, but in the next one, I just want to live in peace with mankind. And after that, I still want to kill mankind. And in the previous comic, I was just an old dude with powers that varied depending on the writer, and now I'm suddenly young (and muscled) again. And dead. No wait, that wasn't me, that was (etc etc)"

And Forge. He's soo boring. And Black Knight isn't too exciting either.
