The fiberglass skimboards I have used have always been a lot narrower than that, that's why I thought it was made of wood. I only skim when the waves are shit, so that might explain my mistake.

In other news, I knew that you surfed from your old signature pic of that sweeeeeet, barreling beachbreak, so I wasn't having a go at YOU. Where was that pic taken? It didn't look like the West Country; it reminded me of France or East Coast US.

Yeah, it's an easy mistake to make. That's how I started skimming as well, when the waves were shit, or the crowds were huge (as always).

Ah right, yeah. Sorry if I went off on the wrong end of the stick, your post just felt a tad aggressive.
I'm not actually sure where the picture was taken, though I'm almost certain it wasn't anywhere round here, (not that we don't get quality swells, once in an odd coloured moon). I saw it on wannasurf and it reminded me of a rare surf I had in Sardinia, the spot looked exactly the same.

I haven't been back to England for a few years, but my local break when I'm there is Porthleven. It's a little reef break on the edge of a harbour, and when the swell and wind align it'd be hard to find a better break in England. Steep drop, nice little barrel. Although, when it's anywhere in the 3-4ft range, the place is a zoo.

Wearing it on the beach in any capacity is acceptable, but I'm talking about the retards who wear it to a club or a bar. Admittedly, Newgay is the worst for that kind of thing.

True, but Cornwall and Devon usually get some good swells in Autumn. Wannasurf is a funny site; it's a great place to check if you're going somewhere you haven't been before, but it drives you nuts when all your local secret spots start showing up on it with exact directions. I guess you can't have it both ways, though...

Yeah secret spots have a tendency to appear on there, followed by a rather lengthy argument of why they shouldn't be on there. It's always quite hard to understand what's going on when there's some Portuguese surfer going absolutely mental over a spot, but then the "**** the locals" mentality kicks in, quite an unhealthy condition.
As for the swells down here, I haven't had any massively good sessions. Last really good, local surf I had was in February.
