My brother was born with a strain of the herpes virus that resulted in coldsores on his mouth area during childhood and adolesence. His particular strain of herpes, which number I can't recall, does not mean that the person suffering from it is a disease carrying sadist. I don't know what a coldsore is like, much less have I had one. Alan gets a few mouthsores during his adolescence and he has a strain of shame disease. I didn't even get so much a zit during puberty. (Well, one or two that were not fun as they were the under-the-skin kind) Alan had terrible acne while I was relatively unaffected. I think, over all, that such an example shows how much genes effect a person.

I had an exgirlfriend (15+ years ago) who had similar, her mother transferred them to her during birth (as the story goes), she'd break-out only every few months around the corners of her mouth and she never transferred it to anyone (supposedly), including me. Makes me wonder if it was family-line (gene) specific type of infection or if we're just two immune bad-asses with superior genetics, I'd like to fancy the latter.
