Yeah...Although it was a fake.

In the sense that it wasn't sharp or made from inferior materials? I mean, I thought they were pretty much manufactured to be ceremonial, not practical these days anyway.

Jaden,

Under the kilt, is anything worn or are the goods just hanging freely?

You can't take the blade out of the scabbard....It's either glued in or there is no blade in the 1st place.

Although I just ordered a proper stag horn handled silver bladed one.

In the case of hired ones it's best to wear undies as you can be charged if you end up "soiling" them.

Just depends. In the case of Saturday I did wear something under it as it was blowing a gale outside. At my brother's wedding last year I didn't.

You going for the standard straight blade or are you doing something fancy like the Bowie-style dropped point that's supposed to be more traditional, or something curved?

Symmetrical blade with a curved hilt, flat topped with a silver Drummond (my clan) crest on it.

Similar to that although that doesn't have a crest in the top.

very nice. You wouldn't want to add a slight curve to the blade for added practicality (just in case) and to compliment the curve in the hilt?

He's Scottish, not a ****ing Dervish assassin.

Well from what I gather, they were meant for use as cutting tools, not for stabbing. Hence the curved handle but a slight curve to the blade would assist in that as well.

Nah. I already have a Hannibal Lecter Harpy knife for practicalities.

Exactly the same as that.

I do like knives, not in the sense that I collect them, but just to look at. Also this whole clan/crest business is very cool 😄

Knifeskank uhuh

Chris (middle) in his last moments of freedom. Me (left) and Chris's brother, Carl (right) who refused to wear a kilt and so ended up having to get trousers in a completely different tartan (pride of Scotland, ironically).

Chris's brother looks like he belongs on some snobby American golf course, that or a hotel doorman.

I thought he looked a bit more like a cross between Lurch from the Addams family and Rupert the bear.

I never thought I'd say this to another man, but........you look good in a kilt, Jaden.

Stop looking at me like that.

Well it's not likely you're going to say it to a woman is it?

Aren't skirts generally for women?

I dunno, do women wear kilts too?

Nope.
