Last Movie You Saw? (Theater/Home)

Hitchcock- Tacky yet had a stellar performance by Hopkins.

Film almost had a TV movie vibe to it regardless of the actors involved.
And it was predictable....not good for a biographical film.

^Aw.. worth seeing in the theater? My mom and I are big Hitchcock fans.. we seem to have mixed feelings with how Hitchcock looks.

Skyfall - Unless the big screen cinematography is vital to you (it does look pretty in Imax), I'd wait for Skyfall on video. It does have probably the best Bond trippy opening sequence I think I've ever seen.

Mortal Kombat Legacy - I never knew this movie was ever made, how come no one told me?

Yeah if you're a fan of the guy, Hopkins is superb in it so he carries it.

Universal Soldier : Day of Reckoning.

Dammmmnnn! what a cool movie that was. A true exploitation film. Yet done with respect in regards of the previous series' actors involved. In which there were three.
Sure the film lacked that shine people demand these days in films.
But what it lacked in shine it made up in grit. And that's precisely what a film like this needed......rust. A dirty blood stained machete.

This film could've been better in the eyes of a younger person. But personally it was all it needed to be. It had none of the humor the original had, thankfully for it tells the tale of soldiers who can't die and such a tale is a tragic one.

-The first film was a fun action film. A super soldier with a heart of gold who rises up against the others.
-The second was 90's trash that held the formula in a elitist tone and was nothing more than a Pro Wrestling film.
-The third was a sad tale of the original hero (Van Damme) going up against a younger and stronger version of himself in a desolate war torn setting and triumphing eventually, though the circumstances left him bitter.
-And this film has Van Damme as the psychotic villain. Tired of the endless use of UniSols he starts a resistance group. But one of them rises up to challenge his authority.

If there were more films in the series I didn't see them, and they probably didn't matter. A solid strong 6/10 for this film. Exploitation Film at its best today.

^ I was on the fence for this Universal Soldier sequel but now I want to see it, mainly downloaded it as I've seen em all. Loved the original

Pathfinder (2006)
American Gangster (2007)
Spawn (1997)

Fell asleep during the middle of Pathfinder.. it's pretty dumb, but I probably missed all the best parts (I hope). American Gangster is boring except when Denzel is choking bitches, lol (not Ridley Scott's best work, but then again it's not really my cup of tea anyway). And Spawn is godawful, but it's something that should get a good R-rated reboot (why is John Leguizamo allowed to make movies?)

Yeah Pathfinder was trash.

Theatre-- Seven Psychopaths - Haven't laughed so hard in ages. Best Crime comedy since Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Blown away by how good it was. Don't miss this one guys.

theater: Skyfall

1.100 words or 100 words with eddie murphy. I liked the father son ending theme.

2.5 year engagement. Had some funny parts, few main actors but the movie was a bit long and some scenes were not necessary.

3. Justice league doom

Lord of the Flies (1990)

I've never read the book, but I enjoyed the film. It's actually really believable, too. I can imagine there being one little troublemaker who would break up the 'order' (so to speak).

That does look good! Liked the cast..

theater: Twilight: Breaking Dawn, part 2

Fargo
Horrible Bosses

I've seen Fargo several times now. I had never seen Horrible Bosses, though. It was actually pretty damn hilarious. 😆

Zodiac, home.

Since I've seen "Se7en" about a million times, I was expecting that same sort of thriller/horror on speed. It was a pleasant surprise, then, when I watched Zodiac. I didn't know that the Zodiac case is still unsolved in parts of California, and I loved Robert's [Jake Gyllenhall's] character. And how everything twisted around.

Robert Downey Jr. plays an excellent arsehole, and I'm pretty sure this was before his rehab? I dunno, he just played the wino/druggie type to perfection.

All in all, great movie, great acting. More informational than I was expecting, but everyone who acted in that movie was terrific - especially Mark Ruffalo and Gyllenhall.
