Shot Caller (2017) - starring Jamie Lannister from GoT and the guy from Walking Dead/Punisher Netflix. This is a killer movie. A brilliant work, and a dark and depressing look at the criminal underbelly of the prison system. 9-10/10. Fantastic. Kind of in the same vein as Brawl on Cell Block 99 with Vince Vaughn, which is also brilliant, but still very different styles, both great, though.
And I rewatched...
Thor: Ragnorak (2017) - liked it maybe a little bit more than the first time, even though most of the humor still doesn't work for me and the arena battle just comes across as very green screen and artificial. Of course many movies are these days, but much of this movie just felt too much like it. The premise is a bit too generic still, but the lightheartedness of it is fun. Jeff Goldblum's character still feels wasted and that whole plot line goes un-delt-with due to "bad supervillian wants to destroy Thor's home world" generic plot.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - still liked it, surprisingly good flick that should be a mega bloated mess. It's weird that I practically despised the Dr. Strange movie, but I like him a lot in this. And I just love the Guardians of the Galaxy and they play a huge role so yeah, just great.
Jupiter Ascending (2015) - still feels a bit goofy and messy and cringy performances, but I can't help but be fond of the rich sci-fi world building. I gained a little more respect for it watching some of the special features. I didn't realize Terry Gilliam had a little cameo during the big bureaucratic nightmare part. The visuals are still great. I just wonder if the film might have been a little better if they hadn't tried to make it so much of an action film. It seemed like it needed a slower pain and to really build the worlds and draw you in. But of course then it would have been REALLY hard to market it.
