are writers at Marvel changing guard?

Today's writers are changing with the signs of the Times. Fair and square but has old Peter Parker gone better or worse?

Thanks. I dont mean to bash people, it's just that when you read comics these days and check the story lines, it's like ............ nough said. I do like both wolverine and spidey n feel this sadness for the hulk. I'm a part time body builder and have had people scared of my size when I meant no harm at all. Over the years, certain characters have gotten bigger and in the superhero sense it's the super human powers that make us want to read about them. Sure spiderman is more human by having his fair share of human problems but it seems he's getting too many too much. He's marraige's broken down! He lost a good job at a lab, he gets vertulos or whatever that allows him to go giddy at the worst possible times (like in the middle of a fight). He keeps meeting super villains that can touch him. OH YEAH, AFTER ALL HE DOES TO FIND HE'S WIFE AFTER HAVING THAT SUPERNATURAL FAITH THAT SHE WAS STILL ALIVE AFTER THE PLANE CRASH, SHE LEAVES HIM!!!!! DOH, yeah, he's got this responsibility problem but hey, when you make a commitment to get married, then you cant keep letting your greatest love down no matter who you are!!!!!!!!!!!

WITH GREAT RESPONSIBILITY COMES GREAT POWERS, same for marriage cos you're commiting yourself to one person more than anybody else.

I hope this doesn't mean I'm putting down the writers cos they're doing a good job. it's just man, the story telliing's gone wicked!!!!!!!! The green goblin coming back into Peter's life and finding out about his identity stuff. Then the alien stuff that looked like MEN IN BLACK. I
just wanted to let it be known READING ABOUT MY FAVORITE SUPER HERO TAKING SO MANY HITS CAN AFFECT PEOPLE LIKE ME!!!!!
SADNESS UPON SADNESS UPON? Comics are to be fun you know!
Hope I'm not sounding melodramatic here but comics are supposed to be feel good factors like when you go to the movies, it's an escape route to the world of fantasy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, when I read stuff that's a bit too sad about my favorite super hero, it gets to people like me and that's where the writers dont get it! I'm not out to discredit them but hey
there are some of us out there where life's a bit bitchy at times and when you want to buy a comic which I do regularly apart from novels, the story can lift you up or get you down more. Am I getting through to you? Not out to diss anybody but I thought this was a chat line about superheros.

Some people think it's childish to read Marvel comic at my age, in my 30's and thats ok. I'm a writer and actore and love staying with Marvel dom as they are a great bunch of people!!!! Now making superb films that make DC films look very childish. I always thought DC was for kids anyway cus the story point. I wish evrybody a good year and thanks for taking time out to read my mail. It's biz nothing personal! Word Up!

Don't worry I'm 19 and I read comics.

Anyway, I have noticed that JMS has/will use alot more supernatural beings, rather than old school villains. Howard Mackie was an ok writer, but got silly towards the end of this run. JMS had been writing for about 4 years now, and in England we've only just started getting his work (via ASTONISHING SPIDER-MAN). Basically, with the exception of the GWEN STACY CHILDREN saga, JMS's work is based on the supernatural.

yeh but you should be able to find a comic book shop somewhere nearby? to be honest i dont know of any in oxford.

i know a great place in leeds near the Headrow where they sell great comics of all sorts! it's cool for comic lovers of all ages. True writers change and all things rearrange but life moves on! Wouldn't it be cool for spiderman to have a child witrh Mary J who (GUESS WHAT?) develops spiderman's powers and all of a sudden, spiderman has more responsibilities (looking after his kid and keeping him from trouble since the kid can swing man!) HEY THAT WOULS BE SO COOL!

That already happened in the spidergirl series.

Yeah, Peter and MJ do have a daughter called May Parker and around her teenage years she begins to develope Peter abilities, thus becoming Spider-Girl.

dami wilson what are you getting at? 😕

technically, but we never did find what happened to her in the regular marvel universe

Yeah, I'd like to know that.

what am I getting at? I want spidey to be a loverman! Its missing in his life and man he needs MJ so much. Why cant a love scene be put in? We need a change like love and basically just thinking he needs more wack story lines and maybe twins would do.
Yeah, come to think of it, I have read that story where he has a daugther but thats in the future, way in the future. I want it to like happen now, maybe MJ finds she's pregnant and that makes her return to Peter and then we can have more story angles like Pete being predatory to anyone trying to hurt his kids!!!

Maybe the new film could do that. Bring something animalistic out of Spiderman where he says 'screw this, I'm gonna bust arse if some dude tries to iinfringe on my kids' yuk yuk yuk!!!!! WE NEED A NEW SPIDEY!

I dont think they want spidey to be a cat! You know a swinging cat like most cool cats are! Hey blackcat, are you really female? I'd like us to swing on the roof tops and shout our vocals off till day break!

Yes Marvel is changing Peter/Spidey a lot these days

ALOT IS AN UNDERESTIMATE! They're still keeping him as a teenager while other heros have aged! Even Thor has a huge beard and seems to have aged 20 or 30 years. Everyboy except Peter as if he will never develop! Hence, this teenage adolecense stuff which makes him take a lot of stick.

Why do they have to be perfect though? Hmmm, he's so much in love, they'd have had a baby by now or something of the sort.

marvel knights have changed him... he's older now...

well thats good. How about making him get rich and fat? FAT CATS RULE!

i know exactlty what u mean, that why i quit reading spiderman, its like old movies, that if i see again ill think they are crap, i dont see anymore, and keep of it my sweet memorys...
spiderman is the man...........and the gwen /~norman stuff to me never happened, thats all 😎

dude that was a cool thread you posted as a reply! Keep it up and more guys will come back! That's for sure, when you shell out this much for comics per year it's good to have writers know its not just business when they turn out just any kind of story! It can be personal too!

Spidey's like my best friend in comic books!

I don't think what you said about sadness upon sadness for Peter is true. Sure, Howard Mackie did it his cringe-worthy run on the Spidey comics but now that JMS hs taken over Amazing and Millar is writing Marvel Knights, Spidey is fun again! He's not extremely depressed anymore. I'm loving the Spidey books at the moment.

youre lucky, then, marvel knight dont ships on my contry due to some stupid contract..........

I just wish they'd stop trying to make peter this sad freak who has more troubles than even the Hulk has ever had! Is that supposed to make me like him more? Duh, I dont think so! Please stop making him the jackass of all villains! Like the point where he developed vertigo just when he was about to fall of an edge or fighting his best enemy or some sh.t like that! Darn! Give the dude a piece of mind! He rescues his wife who in the end leaves him? Cus she got to sort her life out?

How many heroes go thru that? Maybe superman but why hasn't Richard Reeds, mr stretch go thru that with susan (invincible woman) or any of the other heroes? Trying to make peter human to us all isn't to always make him feel oppressed! Beaten up to a pulp or some stuff like that! It's so common whenever I buy the comic I know he's gonna get his butt whooped and flip to the back page to know if he survives! Gosh, its like buying a rocky or rambo comic knowing 80% of the comic is how the dude gets wiped on the floor . gees!

Hey spiderman is a great hero no matter who writes him, and that is saying a lot with his writers.
