The Random Music Rant Thread

A place to talk about things that aren't worth starting a new thread for but you feel are worth saying; anything music related works.

I started this for 2 reasons:
1. For all the times I felt like giving some useless information or just plain speak my mind.
2. I'm desperately trying to start a successful thread.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me start by saying that Green Day are awesome!
No matter how much I hear them they'll alway be good and I never get sick of them. It's been too long since I've just sat and listened to Green Day!
*Loads Green Day onto the playlist*

I like Oasis...

but not many of my fellow americans will like them with me.... but when I lived in London for a year... I was surrounded by Oasis lovers...

looking forward to their new album in May (??) - hopefully they will stop fighting long enough to release their album on time this time

The Libertines need to reform. And Pete needs to get off the dugs. Being in babyshambles isnt helping him. And i really hope Carl gets better. i feel so sorry for him and i could just cry for him.

To bad their aren't more woman who do heavy rock, metal and other heavy music's of the sort.
Nothing like hearing a girl (who's hot) scream at the top of her lungs!

Ive found most girls who are in a band are often found to be punk, arent they?

Kittie, Otep, I can't see how they'd be punk?
There are quite a few Punkrock female singers but that's not the type of girl singers I was talking about. Rock lacks Female singers in general, too bad.

England is where all the best bands and guitarists came from.

I know you werent talking about that type of music. But i just said that MOST of the female singers are all punk related.

The Birthday Massacre still haven't been signed! I'm desperate for a full-length TBM album 🙁

The Libertines and Muse are nominated in the Brit awards.

"England is where all the best bands and guitarists came from."

Yeah. My Dad often saw Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai down the local pub.

Coz you know those guitarists (the best there is and were, arguably) were British.

Oh wait.....No they weren't.

Such a silly claim to say that all the best bands ever were British.

Bands:
Led Zeppelin

Iron Maiden
The Clash

Guitarists:
Brian May
Slash (GnR)
Tony Iommi

Richie Blackmore
Eric Clapton
Jimmy Page

No offense, I'll probably get blasted to hell for this, but I don't think playing at 200 bpm is that great... a lot of Hendrix's songs descend into walls of white noise. Satch and Vai are so covered with effects, you cant even hear the guitar tone. The only really great guitarist you mentioned there would be Van Halen.
In my honest opinion, the bands and guitarists I've listed above are easily some of the greatest in the world.

All but three of those bands you mentioned were/are great (although you missed out Procupine Tree, who are better than all but one in that list), but AC's point was that not all of the best guitarists were British, he wasn't saying British musicians suck. He's completely right, I can think of about 10 just off the top of my head to add to the ones he mentioned, 5 of which aren't even American which is nice.

And I'm not a huge Hendrix fan myself, but 'white noise'?? Don't mean to sound rude, but are your ears functioning properly?

Star Spangled Banner

😕 well you certainly told me.

Most of the time when I ask a guitarist who the best guitarist was they say Joe Satriani.

o come on - couldnt you add Oasis to your little list- I mean you put Coldplay in there

Okay, this is something that's been pissing me off for a while now. The whole thing with pop artists and teenyboppers wearing the anarchy sign and putting it on their speakers and such has to stop. I swear that 90% of these people know absolutely jack shit about anarchy except for that the Sex Pistols sang about it. Since when has Kelly Clarkson been a rebellious punk rocker? 🙄

Thats why i love Britain today. Cos rock music (and i mean proper rock music) is coming back into the mainstream. Real new artists such as, The libertines, Muse (not new but finally hit mainstream last year), Franz Ferdinand, snow patrol, Keane and many more have totally shook the nation into complete indie punk rock.

Okay then... but I cant alter it now... anyway, Coldplay were okay before they turned boring.
