Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa...guys, lets talk.
I hate to be the bad guy here, but my thoughts differ entirely from yours.
Well, the short line up of X-Men does indeed suck, and having to play the Brotherhood might not be everyone's cup of tea, but don't you think they'll make it so awesome that it WILL be everyone's cup of tea? Yeah, I sound crazy, but hear me out.
Rise of Apocalypse puts the X-Men and Brotherhood together a la X-Men 2: X-Men United. Now we all liked that movie [ ] that much, if not loved it. That movie had "The Brotherhood" as Magneto and Mystique, and boy was it fun to see Mystique slinking around and being this major badass.
So now imagine you PLAYING Mystique, instead of just fighting her in Central Park? If they really do this right, it'll be a blast. Think: You're inside FBI Headquarters posing as the FBI Director on a mission. You get caught somehow, and Mystique's this total fighting guru. How fun would that be? Just performing slick moves that'll get you anywhere? Compare this to "Chain Lightning" and zapping all your enemies in a heartbeat.
I don't think people play these games to win them, mindlessly performing rapid combos. No one plays Mortal Kombat to get through the Story mode, its all what it looks like. 'Specially when youre playing against a friend. A normal punch is just like "whatever", but pressing X+O at the same time gives you this super 1337 wacky move that'll leave the other person going "Oooooh". Know what I'm saying?
As for the characters, I've read through the majority of the thread and the last post above me has ignited my mind. I've got some problems with the list above, assuming that's a list of Brotherhood members Benito would like to see.
First of all, Blob does not suck. Maybe a bit, but his, erm, fat is just like Collossus' metal skin: it takes very little, if none at all, harm. Blob can increase his density till he is basically unmovable. No tank, no speeding bus, no F-16 is moving this guy. He's fricken strong, like Collossus, and though he'll move slow, its not like ol' Piotr was The Flash, right? The Blob can absorbe impacts, and stretch his reach. We've added a bit of Mr. Fantastic here, too. As seen in the cutscene where Mystique frees Magneto from the Arbiter, the Blob reflects bullets like nothing, and can fling aside an Anti-Mutant troop in a flash. Or, rather, sit on him.
Juggernaut and the Blob are highly similar. Though, as seen in the Muir Island level and the flashback level of XML 1, we realize what a powerful force he is. Once in motion, Juggernaut can not be stopped. Or something of the sorts. He's a formidable foe, and playing him would be repetitive if you'd play the Blob in the game, but they wouldn't add characters that are two similar. And if they did, it'd be the gameplay that would make them two different characters.
And now in response to Benito's list.
Magneto: Well this is a given. Playing him will be fun indeed, as his control over metal is infinite. Everything has some traces of metal in it, in the game at least. The HAARP Facility isn't going to be built of plastic, is it?
Mystique: Mentioned above. Slinky and seductress, I do hope they get rid of the red costume. It wasn't the same, though she does wear that in her mini series.
Pyro: This should be nice, considering they expand on his ability, as in let us experience the hard-to-beat-on-level-two power he had.
Avalanche: Another nice thing to throw in. I'd like to let 'Poccy fall into some deep Chasm. Though that would leave me very, very incontent.
Sabretooth: Of course, the "too similar to Wolverine" argument. Well, buddies, I disagree. Sure, he is, but the character interaction will be good. Wolvie is more like, well, a wolverine. Small yet incredibly aggressive. Sabretooth, however, is a lion. The king of the jungle: large, powerful, and simply viscious. Creed is a psychopath, and add that with his powers and its heaven for any fan boy.
Destiny: No. What is she gonna do? "Raven, I see you falling to your death." Oh noes! She's not fun at all, and unless they do something interesting with her, I say let us never speak of Destiny again. She caused enough trouble with her diary! Ooh, subplot anyone?
Toad: This I would like. Toad's tongue and his all around agility rocks. Armin Shimerman of Buffy (The Principle) and Star Trek (Quark) fame did him very well. I liked it alot. Having a small, bouncy little Toad will be nice, like the Nightcrawler of the Brotherhood, 'cept a wild little critter and not a "Mein Gott!" toting Elf.
Scarlet Witch: Pass. Though it WOULD be nice, if they ever made a Marvel Legends game, it would throw her off of there. Unless at the end of XML 2, Wanda stays with Xavier before going to the Avengers. Anyway, her powers are interesting but terribly hard to explain, let alone use in a video game.
Quicksilver: Run run run, as fast as you can. Me no likey. Leave the Maximoff Twins to the Avengers, please. Though Pietro can run around and punch and attack quickly, its not my thing. Maybe someone elses?
Havok: Yeah, though I won't like it. The Summers relationship will be nice.
Well, that's my two cents. Though at this rate, its been my two hundred dollars.
