The Office Boxset Dvd review
Title: The Office Boxset
Rating: UK 15
No of disks 4
Running time 440 minutes
Containing all 12 episodes from the first two series plus the two Christmas specials, it's the definitive collection for all comedy fans!
The Office is sort of a mockumentary focusing on the day-to-day workings of the staff of Wernham Hogg, a paper manufacturer in Slough, England. David Brent (Gervais) is the office manager and he has the uncanny knack of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. He so desperately wants to be loved by his subordinates but they see him mostly as a buffoon. He tells awful jokes and often creates embarrassing and uncomfortable situations because he feels that he has to perform for the camera.
Picture: 16:9 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Good picture.
As David brent would say, 'Its Perfick'
Sound: Dolby Digitial stereo sound. Again nothin special but good enough. Audio commentary with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant on the second episode of the christmas special. Funniest commentary ive ever heard.
Features: Nothing to look at here....if you stay on the menu screen for a minute or so, a phone will ring...press enter on your dvd remote and then you will get to hear david brent perform freelove freeway.
Extras: For series 1 you get a documentary with Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant and some of the cast and crew. It is very funny and you get to see some behind the scenes footage in the documentary as well. Also on series 1 there are six deleted scenes.
On series 2 there are out-takes, Deleted scenes and a video diary which is hilarious.
The Specials disc starts off with “The Office: Closed for Business Documentary” which has Gervais and the cast talk about the show and the major success it has had. You get to see the Golden Globes featurette which shows Gervais and co talking about the event. Also including footage of their time at the ceremonies in Los Angeles. You also get to see the hilarious music video called 'If you dont know me by now' performed by David Brent! You will laugh your head off at this. There is also footage of Ricky Gervais recording a full-band version of Freelove Freeway with Noel Gallagher out of Oasis. So overall there is lots to enjoy here.
Overall: The programme gets 10/10 and the Dvd also gets 10/10. This is one of my favourite shows of all time. The american remake is out soon fear, so to americans who havent saw the british version...do so before you see the american one! This is the perfect Dvd.
