Au contraire. She has brilliant acting in Garden State and Closer, as well as Leon: The Professional. The first two Star Wars movies, the script was at fault, not her acting, if anything.

I had no respect in Miss Portman until I saw Garden State.

She was also good in Cold Mountain, better than the overrated Kidman and Renée Zellweger, she had more chemistry with Jude Law.

kate blanchet did a very good job but i was really hoping natalie could win this one especially for showing her versatility as an actress

I didn't really like Nat in Garden State. For some reason, I found her a bit annoying. She was good in Closer, but she looks so young that it seemed wrong. She's extremely gorgeous, and I think that helps a lot when it comes to getting roles. Too bad she didn't get the Oscar, but most didn't expect her to. Anyone watching the show? Her chest looks really gross in this dress, though it is a beautiful piece. The smoking is getting to her man, she looks ultra skinny. But she's a tiny girl anyway. And she's been overseas so probably the food change and travelling has added to the really bony look of her chest. Hopefully, she'll put some weight on. Her chest makes her look a bit unhealthy.

She's been smoking for awhile. Seems like it started up around the time she was shooting 'Closer', but natalieportman.com has a lot more pictures. Especially in the candids. Candids 2004-present. Go to that page in the image gallery.

Nat will have many more opportunities I'm sure. The GG win will definitley boost her, give her a little bit more publicity. I would have liked for her to win but I'm not very upset Cate did. She is Aussie and everything. 😊
