Most Recent Classic Song (Any Genre)

It doesnt have to be released or anything but what song do you think has the rights to be a classic of recent times...(1990 - 2005)

Anything by Nirvana and RATM

I think I'd have to say RATM.

I think RATM, Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park and maybe Blink182 will be the only rock/metal bands that will be remembered as classics of the 90's

"I think RATM, Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park and maybe Blink182 will be the only rock/metal bands that will be remembered as classics of the 90's"

If you mean bands that were around in the 90s the I doubt Linkin Park and Korn (although Korn are good) will be remembered to that high of a degree.

Faith No More, NIN, Deftones, APC, Tool to name a few.

Although some of those are only gonna be remembered by those with enough knowledge.

-AC

Elliott Smith

I think due to Linkin Park being so popular with people with mainstream tastes aswell as rockers I think they will be remembered, and I think Korn would for being the first band that was a popular band that had sick and twised lyrics.

Nirvana , NIN , Tool ... well those will be my classics

Rage Against The Machine > Korn ever was

I'd say Seven Nation Army has that kind of feel.

"Never gonna give you up"-Rick Bestly.

-AC

Gotta say, a number of songs by the Smashing Pumpkins, some by RATM, and Pearl Jam has some awesome songs as well.

Maybe Limp Bizkit aswell because they were pretty big aswell.

So you're saying classic just means popular? I thought you meant good.

"Smells like Teen Spirit"-Nirvana

The obvious ones: Smells Like Teen Spirit, Closer, Creep etc.

Possibly Disarm by Smashing Pumpkins.

I'm sure RATM will be remembered, I'm not sure for which song though.

However, as much as it pains me to say it, right now I don't think Tool/APC/Opeth/Deftones or any number of my favorite bands have any songs which have been big enough individual singles that will go on to be classics.

So that's a yes on that we're just going on what's a big hit?

Weezer - Buddy Holly
Presidents of the United States of America - Peaches
Modest Mouse - Float On
Foo Fighters - Big Me, Learn to Fly, Everlong

15 years ago......recent??? hmmmm.

Hysteria by Muse
Slither by Velvet Revolver

Hey Baby Hey-No Doubt

You might like to, at this point, consult the dictionary definition of 'classic'.

Rage Against The Machine will be remembered probably from killing in the name of probably.
