But Metallica is THE BEST BAND EVER except for their abums after the black album!
Some of mine are dead, but deal with it:
Guitar/vocals: John Lennon
Guitar/vocals: Bob Dylan
Piano/Vocals: Elton John
Drums: Keith Moon
Bass: Flea (It would give these guys a great flavor)
I don't care how you feel about any of the musicians above, they are all amazing and influential.
Above: 8/10. Great line-up...kind of reminds me of a Trans-Siberian Orchestra style band.
I like Chuck Klosterman's rules:
a vocalist, a guitarist, a bass player, a drummer and one 'wild card' (any instrument and backing vocals)
1) You can't take more than one member from any given existing group.
2) You can't pick Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley as your vocalist.
3) You can't pick Jimi Hendrix as your guitar player
4) If you pick a bassist who sings (eg, Les Claypool) or a drummer who sings (Don Henley) or a guitarist who sings, he (or she) can't sing in ths particular band. They can play thier specific instrument only. Also, if you select Les Claypool or Don Henley, you're a prick.
5) You can't pick John Bonham as your drummer. You also can't pick Animal from The Muppet Show.
That said, here's my list:
Sly Stone - Vocalist
Eric Clapton - Guitar
Bootsy Collins - Bass
Rhythm Guitar/Wildcard-George Harrison
Charlie Mingus - Drums
The one man band on top of me...1/10.
