I kinda have mine in alphabetical order too. They're in four different areas so it's hard to utilize the space effectively AND keep it all in alphabetical order. But in all of those places, they are in their own individual alphabetical orders.
I can find them all by remembering which shelf they're on. When someone asks me for one I point to the shelf and they know it's in alphabetical order from there.

The organizational aspect of it. Not so much the mass, which in retrospect wasn't all that important, either. Looking back at what I had, I'm actually kind of embarassed, given my frugality and access to free rentals. I just bought movies I like, and never watched them, just to have them on hand.
There just aren't that many movies that I like that merit watching more than once a year, much less paying $10-$15 for as opposed to getting Netflix for $17, and watching an average of 50 movies a month that way.

You've made a more than fair point in justifying why you choose to have a small library, I respect that. However, how many times do you have to bring it up?
