Guevara

A teacher yelled at you for talking about Che Guevara on your own free time? That seems a little over the top.

you should have yelled at her back,
I would have....

Most people misenterpret Che, or just use him as a teen rebel phase..

Why do people like Che Guevara if he was a communist? Just wondering? What did he do to be so great? My friend was talking to me abouts how amazing Che was when a teacher came up and yelled at us. 🙁

Because some people understand that communism isn't as bad as we are led to believe. And even if you don't like his political views, he was incredibly brave to do what he did.

Cuba was democratic before Fidel Castro and company took it over tho. I just don't get it. 🙁

No it wasn't, it was a corrupt dictatorship...

yea, and he felt that Communism was better for the people...which, on paper, it is i guess....but in practise, it sucks

Not necessarily, because it's never really been tested. There has never been a true communist society anywhere on earth for any significant period of time. Coincidentally I have my doubts about whether or not people would be honest and such... But there's really no saying. Cuba isn't communist, it's socialist, and the two are more different than most people realize. I hate how people misuse the term "communism". It's ridiculous.

Cuba a democracy before Castro? What kind of history lessons did you take?

Cuba was ruled by the dictator Fulgencio Batista, a dictatorship which was thoroughly backed by the then US government. Fidel Castro, with Che Guevara, led the infamous Cuban Revolution of 1956-1959, which deposed of the cruel Batista, and imposed Agrarian reforms. Castro and Guevara had the following of peasants, which were almost above 80 percent of the population, which were the main victims of the Cuban government.

hey dean, why did you steel my old screensaver!!!!!😱 😱

jesus..you must be american.
have you ever analysed what true communism implies? it is quite an efficient system....it was just applied badly...by the wrong people.
and che, as the others said, was a liberty icon...

I did a report on Che, he was pretty awesome, I've got to say. It was cool b/c we got to pick our research papers for honors english and I picked him. I totally had the same idea as all good Americans do, the fact that communism is not efficient. It worked for Che because he was tired of being pushed around just because he had asthma, which was a big thing back then, so he hopped on a motorcycle and decided to change his world!!!! He died doing what he believed in and the gov't tried to hide his body, but the Cuban people were relentless in the idea he gave them... they just wanted to be free, and Che gave that to them.

What about China, North Korea, and Cuba?

They are not communist; they are socialist dictatorships.

What exactly is the difference between communism and socialism?

I see.. still don't think communism would work in the real world. People are always going to want more. Frankly a world where everything is equal and there is no competition and no motivation to do better just seems flat out boring to me.
