Man, i was so excited for this game. I have always enjoyed the oddworld games. They were always fun, challenging, and completely original. When i first heard that the oddworld developers were going to make another installment on the series that would break away from past approaches, i got excited. I thought, alright they are going to gives us somthing totally new like they did with abes odyssey. I bought this game going off of the track record from the previous games in the franchise. I was grossley dissapointed with this game. The graphics are beautifull, but that is about all the game has going for it.

the game is essentially an FPS with all the fun taken out of what we like so much about Fps's. The living ammo aspect of the game just makes the experience feel childish rather than ODD. The ammo rarely talks and becomes very annoying to use. I found myself using one type of ammo through out the entire game. The ammo is set up to be used for different tactics, but it doesnt matter, because once your seen you have to result to using stun ammo, and dodging into corners to refill your life. To change ammo you have to virtually pause the game in midst of game play to switch, so there is no convieniant interface for changing ammo. The entire game is just an FPS with a bad design.

I feel embarassed playing the character. Stranger is an idiot with a speach problem. If your going to coin an atmosphere around a western theme, why not base the character off of a bad ass western character rather than an idiot who doesnt like guns? that isnt odd, it's just misplaced. The story is pretty much non existent even when it does start. You play about 3 hours before the brunt of the story begins. Which is disspointing because one of the best thing about the oddworld games was the story.

the enviorments are pretty, but nothing alien or odd about them. The characters in the game consist of frog like creatures and and chickens, and some other simple things in between. Bad character design. Even the camera is sketchy.

Bad character design, thin story, tired and repetitive gameplay, mediocre sound, no music, and poor execution makes this game a rental for die hard fans of the odd franchise only. 4.5/10
