My CD drive has stopped working

It doesn't play nor pick up CDs' anymore. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

Its sounds broken, depends if its still under guarantee, maybe you can get one of the companies employees to fix it.

could be the lens is broken down

take it out and replace it I guess

How do I take it out and repair it?

It would probably just be cheaper to buy a new one as opposed to getting it repaired.

Do a search on removing cd drives, I'm sure you'll find diagrams and illustration online.

what tex says, much easier than doing it yourself

So I just buy a new CD-rom drive? What do they look like when they're sold seperalty from the rest of the junk? 😕

It's just when I tell the rest of my family I'll get blamed for 'somehow' braking it rolleyes1

They look like this:

That's a great deal, a SONY DVD/CD player.

You just connect 1 wire and install the drivers and you're all set.

Many shops like Office Depot and Incredible Universe and BestBuy will even install it for you and update the drives for a small fee.

So all together it should cost you less than $100.

That aint so bad.

Thanks Tex, you're the best! 😊
