Best opening album track?

Did search, seems like would have been done but couldn't find.

What's the best opening track ever?

In terms of ominousness, there's a few for me.

Currently Ode To Isis off World's Apart by ...And you will know us by the trail of dead.

The Grudge by Tool.

Erm.....for hype factor, Bombtrack without doubt. By Rage.

The Great Dividers by Unearth on The Oncoming Storm.

Bombtrack is good because it builds outta nothing,
But I like People of the Sun more because of the opening line to the album...
"you better turn the bass up on this one"
best opening line ever....

Baba O'Riley by The Who. nothing else comes close.

Second best:
Arcarsenal by At The Drive In. That is one intense track.

What I love abour Arcarsenal is that the drums kick in when you wouldn't expect.

It's great.

A Perfect Circle- The Package

Oliver Hart- The Many Faces Of Oliver Hart. not the greatest track on the album but it's a nice start off and the beat is sick.

Heh, I agree with Tpt on "People of the Sun." My personal favorite, though, is "Intolerance" by Tool. Love that riff.

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath is pretty goddamend good too...

My Name is Jonas by Weezer is very good...
Needle in the Hay by Elliott Smith
Wouldn't It Be Nice by the beach boys
Come Together, Back in the USSR, Taxman, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles
Devil's Haircut by Beck
Sympathy For The Devil by the Rolling STones
Kitty by Presidents of the United States of America...the list goes on and on

Nine Inch Nails - Mr. Self Destruct (TDS)
Boysetsfire - Eviction Article (Tomorrow Come Today)
Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes (In Absentia)

Surprised you never said Hexagram, Def.

I was going to, but I think it loses it's impact after a few listens.

-AC

Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nevermind. surprised it hasn't been mentioned.

oh and Hellbound - Reeinventing the Steel is pretty brutal and a great starting track for the cd

Metallica - Fight Fire With Fire ( Ride The Lightning )
Pantera - Cowboys from hell (cowboys from hell)
Nirvana - smells like teen spirit (nevermind)
Opeth - In The Mist She Was Standing ( Orchid )
Megadeth - Holy wars the punishment due

Korn-Blind(Korn)
Korn- Hear to Stay(untouchables)
Lostprophets- We still kill the old way(start somthing)
Lostprophets- Ninja Vs Dragon Shonbi(The Fakse sounds of progress)
Metallica- Battery(Master of Puppets)
Metallica-Fuel(Re-Load)

Yeah it does, plus the 'worship play' part almost ruins the song in my opinion.

I think Feiticiera is their best album opener by far. One of their best songs too.

London Calling - The Clash`s album London Calling
I Surrender - Rainbow`s album Difficult to Cure
Script For a Jesters Tear - Marillion`s album script for a jesters tear
Speed King - Deep Purples album In Rock
Burn -Deep Purple`s album Burn
Stormbringer - Deep Purples album Strombringer
Baba O`Reily - The Who`s album Whos Next

People of the Sun - RATM (same reason Tpt said it)
At the Speed of a Yellow Bullet - Head Automatica (the song is just crazy and sets the tone for the entire CD)

Baba O`Reily - Could never get tired of that song

Where the Streets have no Name - U2-Joshua Tree -whether you like the album or not anyone who respects production value can agree that this song is recorded and layered with pure genius and totally sets the tone for the rest of the album

Welcome to the Jungle - GNR, Appetite for Destruction
****in' in the Bushes - Oasis, Standing on the shoulders of Giants
All My Life - Foo Fighters, One By One
Bad - MJ, Bad
