Well its merely my opinion. I just lean towards the darker things. X-men was destroyed story-wise and Superman, while perhaps my favorite hero, was cool, its still based on unrealistic mythos. Batman, on the other hand, is just a guy in a suit and the Joker is a character that could exist in reality. Just a psycho with a personality, lol.
Also I suppose more people could relate to Batman, becuase, like you said he is just a guy with skill, strength, and technology that makes him seem hero-like. I suppose more people can relate to him as both of his characters are more realistic than Spider-Man or the TMNT.
I personally have more fun watching Spider-Man and Iron Man, buts that's just me. I didn't like the new Turtles movie much. The whole monsters thing was really...far-fetched, I know its hard to say something in a movie with human-like talking turtles is far-fetched but it just seemed random. And I didn't like Splinter's voice at all. Sorry Mako, you were great in Pearl Harbor.
