West Coast? 😕

They are already having voluntary evacuations for Galveston.

*puts on smart cap*

Hurricanes = Atlantic

Typhoons = Pacific (aka West Coast) 😉

Huh?

It is right off the coast if Florida. 😛

And it looks like the people around here are actually smart enough to leave, not stay and have your their lives ruined.

dido.

dude, wtf are you talking about?

The other Hurricane...

can we just leave katrina the f*** out of this thread?

Yeah, isn't there a thread about Ms. Wind?

Wow... I thought that was actually common knowledge.

Tropical Storms in the Pacific Ocean are called Typhoons.

Tropical Storms in the Atlantic Ocean are called Hurricanes.

It has to do with the direction of the rotation. Although if memory serves me correctly, a typhoon affecting the US is generally still called a hurricane.

*confuses self*

😛

Typhoons... Hurricanes... What's the difference... Don't Australians call them Willy Willies? or something like that?

I need a drink........... 😖

It has to do with the direction of rotation. One is clockwise, the other is counterclockwise and in a different ocean. They can also be called tropical cyclones.

Monsoons are something completely different though. 😄

And, this IS an off-topic thread so stop yur complaining. 🙄 😈

I've gotta go try to find a way to get my teacher to put me and my friend next to each other again... be back in about an hour.

Aren't typhoons the Asian name for Hurricane, or is that Cyclone.
