Magneto Runs The Gauntlet

In light of some threads, some here seem to think Magneto is a mega power house energy manipulator:

Magneto Vs. Gladiator

Gladiator has bled before, so that means Magneto could screw up his blood. Gladiator has a nervous system, which means Magneto could disrupt it. Gladiator has fairly weak mental defenses, which means Magneto can put him to sleep, cut off Gladtiator's access to his tactile TK, or erase his mind entirely. Or, with his latest upgrade, Magneto could just dump Gladiator into a black hole. Too many options here for Magneto. Gladiator would have to speed blitz Magneto before he gets his shields up to have a chance.

Magneto Vs. Thanos

Magneto, easily. Thanos stands no chance when Magneto is in bloodlust mode. He'll open up a wormhole that leads to the center of a red giant star, then create a vortex that sucks Thanos into the wormhole. No more Thanos.[/b]

Magneto Vs. Black Bolt

That may be, and if that's the case, then re-directing won't hurt BB...but either way, it still won't hurt Magneto, and Magneto, being the multi-tasking, multi-talented person he is, can do lots of other things while blocking/redirecting/absorbing/laughing at BB's attack. Bloodwork, nervous system work, hitting him upside the head with chunks of metal, sinking BB's antenna into his brain, etc.

He's stated that if he doesn't excercise total control over his power, he can threaten the world every time he uses his power. He can blackholes and wormholes.

Magneto is so formidable not because he has star-smashing power, but because he's a master scientist and understands every facet of his power.

Magneto in BLOODLUST MODE runs this Gauntlet:

He far does he get? With every win, he get's to advance to the next opponent - fully rejuvenated. So how does he do?

Well, this is just to gauge fellow posters opinion on how Magneto would fair against these guys - instead of having one fanboy rant on like Magneto is all that powerful.

Galactus, Odin and Thanos are in there. Not to mention others.

This forum really has gone upside down. It's gone from having a stable working but debateable hierachy to some Gambit Vs Doom threads.

ok, I'll bite....

Although the sources have been "What if," Juggernaut's suit was demonstrated to not be effected by Magneto.

Also, although he wouldn't win, Captain America's shield cannot be manipulated by Magneto either as demonstrated when Magneto was protecting Warlock during the Avengers encounter.

Magneto doesn't get past round 1, as doom has that mechanism that can disable mutant abilities, hence magneto is nothing to doom.

You also think having a nervous system means Magneto can screw with it as well.
You claimed that Magneto can open blackholes.

If he can smash stars and open blackholes according to you, why he can't beat Thanos, Dark Phoenix, Odin, or Galactus?

Yeah, but it was just a What If. I'd like to see what would happen in the actual Marvel Universe.

That's strange - Magneto manipulated it on several other occasions, knocking Cap out with his own shield. That most recently happened during the Onslaught storyline.

Because they can do it too, and more easily. High level matter manipulators would be able to resist Magneto's influence. Odin, Thanos, Galactus and DP are high level matter manipulators.

You mean Joseph or Magneto Magneto? Regardless, I guess his powers are being redefined. I remember a Magneto droid tossing back Captain America's shield, but as said, he was a droid.

It was Joseph (while it was still thought he was Magneto) - but it still shows that magnetic powers affect the shield. Remember, Magneto got his second of three major powerups in the 90s, so maybe that Warlock story happened before then.

Interesting. I guess he developed that ability since the mid 80s, perhaps after his second power up. Writers had a tendency to power him down after he became a good guy in the 80s, though. Magneto never *bent* the shield, but he snatched it from Cap and used it to knock out Hawkeye.

i think your perception of comics is a bit "OFF". just because you wield power cosmic does not make you allmighty. i think doom could beat terrax... a less powerful herald IMO. the same with gladiator. magneto couldnt affect these characters body functions as easily as you think he can. we need some PROOF of this. please provide us with issue numbers. issues that relate what magneto has done to these characters direclty.

Of course. If he has a mouth, I assume he uses it to talk. If he has arms, I assume he uses it to hold things. If he has eyes, I assume he uses it to see. None of those are illogical just because he's "beyond human". He's humanoid, and all those things are logical assumptions because he's humanoid. Likewise, countless observations have shown that lifeforms with red blood are red because of the presence of iron in them. When it's green or some other color, it's because there's no iron.

I'm not even sure why you're arguing that point...it's quite futile.

I didn't say he could beat Thanos. The thing about REAL cosmic level people is that they have regenerative abilities and bodies made entirely out of energy. They control energy on a greater scale than Magneto. So anything that Magneto could do to Thanos, Thanos could undo and do to Magneto for an even greater effect.

Gladiator is not such a person.

Gladiator has no atomic or subatomic control over his body. He CAN'T resist it because it functions at a smaller scale than Gladiator has control over. That's why it's effective, the same way it was effective against Superman. And it's not a tactic that requires "quite a bit of exertion and conentration". Magneto was able to simultaneously block telepathy over a wide region, take control over the blood of ALL the X-men, ALL of X-force and ALL of X-factor at the same time, and keep Avalon (Ship) in near earth orbit. And showed no strain in doing so. If he can do all that, the idea that he couldn't do it to Gladiator without a lot of mental strain is laughable.

Then you've got his claims about Magneto redirecting or just getting stronger from Black Bolt's scream. 🙄

This is such a wildly pro-Doom board that it's ridiculous. I think the comics battle hierarchy on this board is: 1)Thanos 2)Doom 3)Batman.

actually thanos is pretty much at the top considering intelligence...

but doom isnt anywhere near my favorite if thats why you think i'd argue in favor of him 😉 but he is leaps and bounds smarter than magneto.

first you have to realize that everything you said is strictly (STRICTLY) your opinion. not everybody is going to bend to your disability to learn 😉

then you have to realize that gladiators immune system/nervous system/blood system might not function or even be made of the same cells as ours. or contain iron for that matter. have you read anywhere to suggest that it is the same?? apparently it isnt the same because his body functions completely different than ours. so there is no way magneto can directly affect gladiators body... without binding metal to his body. which would be nearly impossible to do considering the speed at which gladiator can function. literally, faster than human though. which is how fast magneto thinks.

another thing you have to realize that IF magneto could open up a worm hole (i'd like proof of this one). he would have to open it up close enough to gladiator for it to suck him in, then it would also have to be able to overpower gladiator to suck him in. none of which you have proof. all you have is your opinion.

if you think magneto can beat any one on the list, i'd like to hear why... with some facts, anything... besides your opinion. because to me your opinion is a bunch of moot mumbo jumbo.
