Pre Crisis Darkseid was IMMENSELY powerful.
Even pre crisis supes fered him.
he had access to multiple universes, and was the guy that finally killed the anti-monitor. Even king thor would be no match for him.

Most pre-crisis DC characters got exponentially stronger until it was too re-dickerous and they wiped the slate clean with the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Some were weaker pre-crisis though. Like Wonder Woman.

DC was running out of ideas on how to challenge some of their infinitely powerful characters (most notably Superman), hence the story arc Crisis On Infinite Earths after which John Byrne relaunched a much more vulnerable Superman.

Whomever said that PC Darkseid was ridiculous is right on point. He was...scary.

Remember that this is the DCU where you have so many characters who literally can rewrite reality (all 5th Dimensional Imps and Batmite, to name a few), so characters as powerful as Darkseid were fairly common.

King Thor = Thor with the Odin Force.

PC Darkseid would not break a sweat.
