For example: Lurtz does not exist in the book, Lurtz is made up for the movie only, so he is a movie-character ONLY, too bad, cause he's cute!
Anyway, another difference is that there IS a battle in the book: Sauron vs Saruman, which is not in the movie (reason unknown to me)...

yeah, I dont have too, but i like making movies, and this one should be fun...

Im having people dramatically read portions of hte book...and then editing in movie clips and such...VO, etc. It should be a lot of fun if i manage to pull it off...
