and what's funny there?
Originally posted by Disco MooseHe was pretending to be offended because the word 'idiom' is spelled almost the same as 'idiot'. He was joking, but the way you and Storm reacted was as though you really thought he was accusing you of calling him an 'idiot' which he was not. In a way, his 'idiom' fooled you as yours did to him.
Listen, I'm not calling you names, so please don't call me an idiot.
IDIOM -
Main Entry: id·i·om
Pronunciation: 'i-dE-&m
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle French & Late Latin; Middle French idiome, from Late Latin idioma individual peculiarity of language, from Greek idiOmat-, idiOma, from idiousthai to appropriate, from idios
Date: 1588
1 a : the language peculiar to a people or to a district, community, or class : DIALECT b : the syntactical, grammatical, or structural form peculiar to a language
2 : an expression in the usage of a language that is peculiar to itself either grammatically (as no, it wasn't me) or in having a meaning that cannot be derived from the conjoined meanings of its elements (as Monday week for "the Monday a week after next Monday"😉
3 : a style or form of artistic expression that is characteristic of an individual, a period or movement, or a medium or instrument <the modern jazz idiom>; broadly : MANNER, STYLE <a new culinary idiom>
So, basically, the misunderstandings were caused by language barriers between the three of you, sort of like an 'idiom'. I'm sorry, that was funny to me. 😄

No, he was having fun WITH you. In no way was he making fun of you, by all means Moose, if you are reading this, tell me if I'm wrong, but I am willing to bet Moose expected you to get the joke. It was a play on the word 'idiot', that was the joke. But the funny stuff started when Storm came in to stick up for you, which was funny because it was unnecessary, yet it showed the rest of us how dedicated Storm is to her fellow forum members, when it comes to supporting them against attacks, which was absolutely not the case here, but one could see how one would think it, because of the whole 'idiom' thing. 🙂
