Itsd called Japanese culture. Americans are all freaky about nudity for some reason, but thats multimedia in Japan..get over it.
In part I have to agree with that. As far as I'm concerned, who cares!? All I can say is, if someone is worried about it, just pay more attention to the age ratings, maybe that will help. And I don't mean that in a sarcastic way. If the author wants to write or draw that way it's fine with me. If someone doesn't want to see it, I say don't look at, skip it, or don't buy it.

Well obviously, the person who started this thread cares.

But it's not about who wants to see it, it's about someone seeing it who shouldn't see it.
Yes, you are correct that someone who doesn't want to look at that should just skip it and not buy it. But having an age rating on a book won't stop an underage child from buying a mature manga at a Barnes & Noble.
Someone under age usually doesn't pay attention to age ratings, especially if they can get away with it because someone is willing to sell it to them.
I don't know if it has been said but:-
Go buy Battle Royale volume 3 and look at the end. It is basically hentai.
I liked it though. I didn't go "ooo! porn" and I didn't go "oh! gross" I just read it.
Censorship is to extreme nowadays. All the swearing has been taking out of anime in the english translations.
edit- Also, I agree that young people shouldn't see manga. And all manga should be 16+. 💃

Not true, actually, at all the bookstores in my area (and I live in Chicago, so that's a lot) if you want to buy a 18+ or M rated manga, you have to have photo ID proving your age. Chobits is the worst of the 16+ rated manga I've seen, and all you see is breasts. Not that big a deal.
I really don't see where the problem is. Why censor stuff for everyone because a small minority has a problem? For parents, simply watch what your kids buy, plain and simple. Don't ruin it for everyone else.
BTW, I'm 19 and have a 13 year old sister who also reads manga. My mom leaves it up to me to screen anything she buys to be sure it's not too adult for her, and I keep my higher-rated mangas hidden away from her.
