acronyms galore... but what do they mean?

OK I ask for permission from the mods to create this thread. basically it is a list of acronyms and there meanings. I have seen many times when a new person joins the group they seem to be a little lost when a lot of acronyms are used. Lets help by building a list for them to fall back on.
