Michael Ausiello has updated his weekly column at TV Guide and he has many updates on ABC's Alias.

Regarding when it will return to the network, after Jennifer Garner's maternity leave, ABC "insists it'll be back sometime this spring... One slot it probably won't get is its old one — Thursdays at 8 pm. As executive producer Jeff Pinkner told me when I interviewed him last week, 'My understanding is we will not be on Thursday night.'"

According to Pinkner, Michael Vartan is returning for "five, possibly six, episodes, beginning with the second one back this spring (that's Episode 99, for those keeping track at home). And I'll let Jeff address the second part of your question: 'As we've said from the beginning, the rumors of Vaughn's death were nothing more than rumors. In this world, don't take anything at face value. We'll know by the end of the 99th episode exactly where he is and if he's alive or not.'

Also, Ausiello reveals that Bradley Cooper and Gina Torres are coming back for the 100th episode: "Bradley Cooper is definitely on board for the 100th episode, which will find a witness-protected Will getting sucked back into Syd's drama-filled world just as he's about to ******* ** *** *** **********. (And yes, each asterisk corresponds to a letter.) Also, as I reported in last Friday's Ausiello Report, Gina Torres' evil Espinosa will also return for the 100th to wreak more havoc on Syd."

While he's been appearing in plenty of other TV shows since then and has an upcoming show on Broadway opposite Julia Roberts, Cooper will be returning to the show very soon, so he told ComingSoon.net some of what's planned (spoilers ahead!). "I'm actually going back tomorrow to do the 100th episode," he said. "I just got the script a couple days ago, and I shoot that next week. Of course, he'll be abducted again and tortured, and I was like 'You gotta be kidding me!' I was tortured like literally eight times on that show, and I had my teeth pulled, not all of them, just the molars. It was ridiculous!"

He also said that Tippin wouldn't be having any romance with Sydney Bristow now that she's a single mom, though. "They already had their one little thing," he said. "The way the episode seems to go is I think that this is the audience saying thank you to Jennifer for doing the role, through Will. He was always supposed to be the everyman, the audience living vicariously in the world, and I think this is sort of him coming back and going on one last mission, and some cool stuff happens. He has a bomb planted in his brain!"

obviously, Vaughn isn't dead then, going by your spoiler. The person ways we'll find out WHERE HE IS and IF HE'S ALIVE. I think that fact that we'll find out WHERE HE IS means that's he's alive SOMEWHERE.

We'll know by the end of the 99th episode exactly where [Vaughn] is and if he's alive or not. Executive producer Jeff Pinkner reveals: [Lena Olin won't be in the 100th episode] but Espinosa (Gina Torres) will be [as well as Bradley Cooper]. Sydney's baby is born in the 99th, and for the 100th, we jump a month [ahead] and she's taking time off from work. [Will] is the thing that pulls her back into the field while she's on maternity leave. The bad guys realize that the best way to hurt Sydney is through her friends. The 100th episode is absolutely an episode that somebody who, even if they only checked in on the show a couple of times, can appreciate. But it also continues the story that we've been telling all season. The title is "There's Only One Sydney Bristow," and it's very much a love letter to her. [...] One of the themes running through the show is Sydney's concern that, because she's been in these people's lives, their lives have been much harder than they would have otherwise been. Will never would have been abducted or tortured by evil people [had he] not come to know Syd. And she's very much struggling with the life that she's bringing her baby into. The message of the episode is that these people are far better off for having known her and the world's a far better place with her being a part of it.

Meanwhile, Tom's suspicious actions may suggest he has a hidden agenda, Irina Derevko is a surprise partner to Jack and a very pregnant Sydney on a mission to retrieve "The Horizon" - but her allegiances still remain in question -- and Sloane is forced to scramble when Devlin suspects a mole is working inside APO.

you arnt actually suprised are you? First of all from the start of the season it was obvious that was what was going on. THey also admitted it a while back and on the previews for the eps. Still good to see though.

i just realised you may have been shocked over something entirely different, if it has to do with the witness protection guy then yes i was also pretty shocked.

Although before Sydney gave birth, her mother was like stop pushing, your baby is coming out backwards and she's like I have to push. And then the father comes in and they'll are like push Sydney we have to do this here and she's like no, not here I can't.

Yeah, who didn't know that Vaughn was coming back. With them giving it away over the preview commercials and all.

It was just a matter of time when they would show him. I was thinking that the guy riding the horse at the end was Vaughn at first.

I have mixed feelings toward Irina. At first I was against her and by the end of the show I was neutral toward her. Although I'm leaning more toward the negative side than the positive while I am here in neutral.
