Actually, the test described below is the most widely held intelligence test performed by psycholigists today. Dont believe it can be found anywhere online for free. The one A4E posted was a gimmick. I did take one back in 1986 and scored 132. I highly doubt it would be that high today, probably more like 115. My brain feels fried 24-7 these days. 😂
Intelligence testing is a form of psychological testing of an individual's capacity to learn and deal effectively with his/her environment. IQ (intelligence quotient) is the score of an intelligence test.
The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is the most widely used individually administered intelligence test (IQ test) for adults. It comprises of 11 subtests made up of six verbal subtests and five performance subtests. It yields three IQ (intelligence quotient) scores: Verbal Scale IQ, Performance Scale IQ, and Full Scale IQ. A scale for children ages 5 through 15 years is called WISC -- Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and a scale for children ages 4 to 6* years is called WPPSI--Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence.
When in University I participated in a few studies (prerequisite for some psych classes) and I had to take take 3 different I.Q. tests for one of the studies. My scores were 128, 129 and 128.
On internet tests I have scored as high as 140, which makes me think that they have dumbed it down a bit.
All that said, I would judge someone's intelligence more by how well they communicate their ideas than by a number they throw at me.

Actually no what I expected was some kind of misspelled expletive. 😉
and in case anyone is wondering these are the psychological classifications for the test I mentioned:
Classification of Intelligence according to IQ scores
Classification IQ Range
Profound mental retardation (MR) below 20 or 25
Severe MR 20-25 to 35-40
Moderate MR 35-40 to 50-55
Mild MR 50-55 to about 70
Borderline 70-79
Dull normal 80 to 90
Normal 90 to 110
Bright normal 110 to 120
Superior 120 to 130
Very superior 130 and above

Personal I think their ideas are a lot more important then how well they are communicated

Can you dumb that down for the rest of us professor?
Basically the idea that intelligence was a discernable and quantifiable measure. It doesn't actually have much credence is psychology these days. WAIS is an interest psychometric if its results are analysed but it doesn't actually have much to say on anyone's base abilities, except perhaps memory (and even that is a learnable skill and hence against the concept).
WAIS has also run into trouble for being culturally loaded- posed the question "What do you do if you find an envelope addressed to someone else?" it gives full marks for giving to the post office and none for opening it yourself.
That's not a test of anything approaching intelligence; intelligence in itself is not morally biased and it might be considered just as, or perhaps more, smart to open it up and steal any money from it. That doesn't make it right, but IQ tests are not trying to judge morals.
The very point that you have to have been taught the right answers to do well in this test takes me back to the main problem- IQ tests presuppose learning. But learning and intelligence are distinct.
