Hi. I have a paper due tomorrow, and have a severe case of writer's block. 🙁
It's about the Arts:
What purposes do the fine arts serve?

Where do you think the arts MUST exist, and justify the need to support them [with govt grants etc].

I'll be eternally grateful to anyone who chips in!! 😄

I do noit know anything about the arts.

Well you could view arts like lit....as holding a mirror up to life.
Ex a painting....err at least most "classic" paitings...try to capture a piece of life.
Really, I'm with Lance, I know very little about art.

You could say that fine art serves a purpose in that it visually documents a historical period and the issues, cultural mood and perspectives of that period. Other than that it promotes visual communication and design (which honestly is in everything you see in the human world) and cultural pride.
