Who were the Other 00 Agents Introduced in the JB movies?
ok, that's old, but I just found a very much detailed answer for both books and movies and thought I'd post it 😄
Here it is:
General Info
According to the books, there are only three agents in the double-0 section at any time.
In the films, on the other hand, it's implied that there are nine double-0 agents: 001 through to 009. In 'Thunderball', all the double-0s were called together in a briefing. There were nine of them sitting in chairs, of which Bond sat in the seventh.
002
The Man With The Golden Gun Back in 1969, 002 was assassinated by Scaramanga in Beirut. He was killed with a single bullet through his neck. His name was Bill Fairbanks.
The Living Daylights 002 is sent to infiltrate a British radar installation in Gibraltar, with 004 and 007, as part of a training exercise. He is captured the moment he lands.
002:
003
A View To A Kill Bond discovers 003’s body, hidden beneath the ice in Siberia. He had recovered a microchip stolen by the Russians before his death.
003:
004
The Facts Of Death Following the murder of M's lover, Bill Tanner is about to call 004 to the scene. M over-rules him and asks for 007. He would be more... understanding.
The Living Daylights Infiltrating the radar installation on Gibraltar with 002 and 007, 004 is murdered by a Russian agent.
004:
005
Colonel Sun Stuart Thomas, head of Station G, had long served as 005 until an eye defect impaired his use of firearms. Described as a mild-looking Welshman, he is well respected throughout the service.
The bookshop he used as a cover was burned down by the opposition, and he disappeared - kidnapped or murdered. Later, M says he is presumed dead.
The Facts Of Death Though Station G has been greatly downsized, Stuart Thomas, formerly 005, is still its head. Reports of his death were obviously greatly exaggerated.
006
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service When the double-0 section receives a new secretary, Mary Goodnight, the section lays bets on who will seduce her first.
006, an ex-Royal Marine Commando, is equal favourite with 007.
(Bond probably wins after she becomes a main character two books later.)
GoldenEye Alec Trevelyan was a Lienz Cossack whose parents were betrayed by the British. However, he went to work for them and became 006.
Faking his own death during a mission with 007, he then formed a criminal organisation known as Janus.
Killed by Bond.
006:
007
You know the name - you know the number :-)
008
Moonraker 008 is resting in Berlin, following a mission. Bond reflects that he must be badly injured. He is named only as Bill.
Goldfinger When 007 seems about to die, he reflects that it will most likely be 008 who is sent to replace him. He’s a good man, and more careful than Bond.
Goldfinger When M is unhappy with Bond's conduct, he suggests replacing him with 008. Bond quickly comes into line.
Later, Bond claims that 008 will replace him if he fails to report. Auric Goldfinger is not impressed: "I trust he will be more successful..."
The Living Daylights M threatens to recall 008 from Hong Kong to replace Bond, when he shows reluctance to kill General Leonid Pushkin. 008 doesn’t know Pushkin, and he is more inclined to follow orders than Bond.
009
Thunderball As Bond is being sent to a health clinic, M puts 009 in charge of the double-0 section.
Octopussy In East Berlin, 009 steals a fake faberge egg from the Russians, but is killed whilst escaping with it. He does, however, live long enough to get the egg into British hands. 007 replaces him in the mission, and also avenges his death.
The World Is Not Enough Sent to eliminate Renard, a dangerous terrorist, 009 succeeded in putting a bullet in his head, but not in killing him.
009:
0011
Moonraker 0011 disappeared in Singapore, and has been missing for two months
