Not sure if this has been mentioned yet because I don't have the time to look through 10 pages of this thread, but here goes: What is Q's last name and what rank does he hold? You'll find the 411 in the movie The Spy Who Loved Me.

they call him that in Dr No (different actor than good ol'Desmond of course) and in The Spy Who Loved Me

He's mentioned in DR. NO? Are you sure? I must have missed that. I know Dr. No in and out and I don't remember Q being mentioned. His first appearance was in From Russia With Love. Other than that, I must have missed his mention.
