Origin: Surtur is an enormous fiery demon native to the dimension of Asgard. Possessed of evil intelligence and vast power, Surtur is one of the major elemental forces of evil that the gods of Asgard fear. Surtur is a mystical being whose existence predates that of the current incarnation of Odin, Lord of Asgard, himself. Over a thousand feet tall, wielding a huge fiery sword, Surtur was once imprisoned by Odin at the Earth's core. Surtur is the being who cleanses Asgard with fire after all the gods have fallen in battle at Ragnarok, the periodic destruction of Asgard. Along with Ymir the Frost Giant and the Midgard Serpent, Surtur is the most pwerful of Asgard's native enemies. In recent years, Surtur has been freed from imprisonment twixe. The first time the Asgardian god of mischief Loki set Surtur free to wreak havoc on Earth. The second time Surtur was set free by Marduk of the Sons of Satannish, a cult of human demon-worshippers. Surtur was banished to some unnamed netherworld at the end of that encounter.

Probably not, MM and Aqua's telepathy could block it out. Then again MM and Aquaman both hate fire. Well MM does, and Aquaman should be afraid of fire.

I don't think the JLA have the power to defeat him, I think the only way for them to win, is to entrap him in something. That is very unlikely though, since he is a 1000 feet tall.

If Zatanna by herself can defeat all of Asgard, then she could probably beat Surtur. C'mon, no way she beats all of Asgard the way Surtur did. That's like saying Batman can beat Spectre. Bull$h!t.

You say that because you don't know what her power is.

She can make absolutely anything happen, by saying it backwards.

That makes her the most dangerous character in the entire JLA.

Zatanna has the ability to manipulate magic in many ways and forms. Her unique genetic structure allows her to use the magic she was born with as well as learned magic. imitating her father's spellcasting by saying the words of her incantations backwards, Zatanna must concentrate on her magic to make sure she is using the proper spell.
Her unique use of magic has left Zatanna vulnerable from time to time, and her powers have waned on occasion. However, each time she thought she had lost her power, it was regained, internally regenerated. While she is not the mightiest sorcerer on Earth, Zatanna is a force to be reckoned with and is more than ready to use her magic for the good of humankind.
If there are any limitations on Zatanna's magical abilities, she has yet to discover them. Zatanna's time with the JUSTICE LEAGUE afforded her limited combat training, but she shuns it in favor of using magic.

No, see, by saying "disappear" she isn't sending him to another dimension, she isn't sending him to another planet, he isn't going to the realm of death. It's all in the choice of words. By saying "disappear" that's it, he's gone, he's been erased from existence, like a pencil drawing is erased from paper.
