Avatar: The Last Airbender
Hi all. I'm new to this forum, and, unfortunately, Avatar: The Last Airbender is NOT an animé. Fortunately, the storyline is well-thought out, the animation style fluid and fun, and there is fantastic character development. Aang is the typical, idealistic protagonist, but he's young and is still learning quite a bit. Watching this growth, along with all the necessary interactions, is fun. Even the "villain", Fire Prince Zuko, is motivated by many things, and is perhaps the most complex, if not most misunderstood, character on the show.
With most episodes, you can see the characters are learning, and the storyline keeps on building up. This show may not have super-emotional-over-the-top action sequences of some animé movies or shows, but that's O.K. You get the feeling that the action is the result of the storyline, and that the action is not simply filler to keep the plot moving along. Avatar is mostly just plain fun! It's consistently entertaining in terms of story and action, and it continues to grow. I can't think of another animated series from Nickelodeon that's been this good.
Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I am new to this forum, but I like to watch animé or fun cartoons in general. My attention to the comic book world has been lagging these past few years, but I'm basically aware of what's going on. You'll see me popping in from time to time. And who's new? You guys are just young whipper-snappers!!!!
