The more I think about it, a Battle of the Heroes music video seems more plausible. Why would they want to release a whole track, a perfect track, from the CD? This is the perfect oppertunity to release a music video, just like Duel of the Fates and Across the Stars. We'll hear the music, see the composition, and have the trailer remixed into it, audio and all. In addition, with the voices, nobody could just rip it and listen to it as a track. Well, they could, but the voices would be there, or the echoes, if they're taken out. Perfect way to market, perfect way to keep everyone happy.

Yes, but I mean, were the tracks released in music video form months ahead of time?
TPM I am a little fussy on, I remember they released Duel of the fates before the sountrack was released I forgot how long before though. The music video premiered on MTV a few days later.
For AOTC they released the soundtrack to radio stations a few weeks before it went on sale. There was one station that was online, it was announced that they would play the music. They played like 4 tracks, one was Across the Stars. Again the music video premiered on MTV a few days after.
Back then all of this was free... before the dark times... before the hyperspace.
