what is the difference between anime and manga

does anyone know

anime is cartoons and manga is a comic book

thats it but why are there manga cartoons?

That's like saying why are there Marvel cartoons. The Manga inspires the Anime...

the manga tells you more about the story/characters (its a lot deeper stuff, more interesting too).

Manga equals books. Comic books. Simple as that.
Anime is usually the manga brought to "life". That's the way I see it. Yeah, you lose some of the depth and the story once a manga is put to anime, but it still makes it super cool!
