A.C. Bradley’s Shakespearean hero is a paradox of mankind; his greatest gift becomes his greatest flaw, who is an exceptional human being, making an error in judgment, which in the end results in a tragic overwhelming waste. Hamlet as the hero in this play fulfills all of the above criteria. His gift is genius. He is an exceptional human being above the realm of those others in the play, but through his choices and actions he chooses his path. By the end his genius, overwhelmed by his notion of the perfect revenge, together with his action and inaction, lead Hamlet and those affected down a path towards oblivion.
