I don't think there is actual racial hatred being used in anime it is either ignorance on the part of the Japanese or a wish just to keep the characters fundamentally Japanese so the Japanese audience can identify with the characters better. The Japanese don't have to include characters of different race if they don't wan't to, or if the story does'nt call for it. Its the Western policy of OTT political correctness thats making us think they should.
I know, you tell them. They dont have to put black people in the anime so just deal with it. You guys are lucky Black people aree even in Dbz and cowboy bebop. Black people realy do act like that the way they put it in the anime just like we do ching chung crap in american shows because thats what we think. Yellow hair and stuff in Japan are respected, even white people because thet are the best race in the world. WHITE POWER is good and it shows.

you dont really have a point in the fourth paragraph. thats just how anime is. In Rorouni Kenshin, Kenshin has red hair and kaoru has blue hair. Common sense would dictate that back then nobody had whacked out hair like theirs! And personally i approve of the character designs. That way you cant really distinguish who is or isnt japanese. Imagine that! In a way they are helping us look at people as people instead of their implied ethnicity.

Being that we are all on this forum, i think that we must all like Anime/Manga to some degree. Obviously the way anime/manga is drawn depends upon the artist. With that in mind, you can't say that the anime or manga is stereotypical.
It is quite true also that there are very few people of other races than Asian in Japan.
As for the weird hair, shapes, etc. it is added in for artistic value. if every single type of character had a certain outline, then anime and manga would be boring. it also adds a certain extraordinary attibute to the story.
would you rather have anime/manga the way it is now or having a stereotypical white person (blue eyes, blond/brown hair, pale skin), a stereotypical asian person (slanted brown eyes, round face, black hair, shorter), a stereotypical african person (brown eyes, thick curly black hair, tall, dark skin, big lips), etc.?

I can't really say anime is racist yet you really can't say it isn't. The way they do portray black people in some of these anime shows is somewhat ridiculous. I know they have been exposed to better looking black people. Who do not have crazy color lips that are differnt shades from their bodies and all these other horribly crazy looking features they put on Blacks. They also give Blacks such a bad image. I mean in american yes we have portrayed them as kung fu fighters and all those other sterotypes but we have evolved. There image is changing over here. Shouldn't they change the image of black people to fit a more realistic outlook instead of such a negative one? And you wonder why are there few blacks in animes and such large amounts of whites.. They don't actually look japanese..if anyone has notice at least most of them don't..
