So, who is the best drummer ever?

Started by Lord_Iniquitous9 pages

Eric Carr, Roger Taylor, Carmine Appice, Robert Sweet, Buddy Rich, Steve Smith, Bobby Rock

1. Dave Grohl
2. Travis Barker
3. Joey Jordison

Ringo Star.

Most people here probably aren't drummers, it's based on fame and volume as far as I can see. The Travis dude from Blink simply means
nothing, he just a hard hitter, can't even keep pace for 5 sec.

Ringo Starr wasn't special. They were famous. Point.

Danny Carey is OK, but saying he's better than Dale Crover, is something based on fame. Besides the fact that Danny plays a song
composed by Dale, that says enough already. Danny's drumming
is quite "lineair". He's good, ooh yeah. But you didn't listen carefully to
the crybaby song, Dale is drumming asynchronous patterns. I could easily follow Danny, but not Dale, simply cause you can't learn his patterns based on counting. Dale uses halve-notes too, if you can understand that. Didn't hear it in Danny's version. Too bad, but you ain't a drummer.

Dale Crover simply is god!

Joe Morello, Buddy Rich.

Lombardo above Carey definately.

Dave Grohl and Lombardo, close competition.

John Blackwell is very good! I don't know him that long, but he's somewhat like Dale, he drums asynchronous patterns etc. At drummersworld you can view vids, he simply is switchhand. He can do all. Hi-hat with lefthand? No problem. Sick.

Bernard Purdie for his style. I think he's pretty unique. Look at how easy it is for him. Such calmness. He's totally in control. I would like
to see him going beserk, wonder how that looks ;-)

Jojo Mayer, very technical drummer too.
Blackwell and Mayer do away with Portney.

uh...neither one of the optioned above...

John Bonham, Keith Moon an' Carl Palmer...Kids!!! 🙄

Let's be serious.

A) You can't keep up with Danny Carey and not Dale. Being that Dale is the inferior drummer of the two.

B) Danny Carey hasn't got a reputation based on fame. That's pure ignorance.

He's just a good drummer. Really good. I saw him play live alongside Lombardo and every time they'd dual solos, Lombardo made him look like an elderly pedestrian.

I agree with Rich.

Never in a million years. Lombardo is extremely good, but he's not as technically able as Carey. Listen to all Slayer, Fantomas. Then just listen to the song Lateralus.

Lombardo writes Slayer drums. Carey writes drum sequences like Lateralus, Vicarious, Reflection, The Pot etc.

I'm beginning to think you know nothing of drummers.

John Blackwell like Dale Crover? Hahahahahaha. Good one.

I bet none of them can even take it to the Matthews Bridge.

Why bump the thread to say that?

-AC

John Otto can.

((1)) Jason Bittner from ""Shadows Fall"" would have to be the best drummer...imo.

Check out "The Light that Blinds" from their new DVD. You'll see how tight and precise everything is.

i vote Joey Jordison

the best drummers i think are joey jordison, ginger fish, and sara lee lucus..
