exactly...Neo needed to die for both him and Trinity to accept their love for one another and to accept that he is, in fact, the One. In Revolutions, Neo doesn't die, but rather, he transcends. If you don't believe me, look at the facts. Neo has become the saviour, of sorts, of Humanity. at the end of Revolutions, the funeral pyre like transport that carries away Neo's limp body seems to look like a Lotus blossom opening in the air. In Hinduism, the lotus is a sign of the everyman rising up and becoming a god man, or even a god. that Neo is in the figurative lotus blossom refers to Neo's godliness and the fact that Neo is not dead. Also, look at Neo's body on the barge. It is glowing. Only machines glow...not even Neo's body, when it was alive, glowed. This shows that Neo has become one with the machines, becoming a deus ex machina in and of himself. Also, christian symbol, on Neo's chest is drawn a cross of light, showing that Neo is the saviour of mankind and alluding to the fact that Christ ascended into Heaven. Neo's not dead, dude.
