And you thought Hitler was bad...

WWII--Japanese attack the Chinese and experiment on them. Quite brutally.

However, I feel this excerpt summarizes the entirety of this atrocity quite well:

He is a cheerful old farmer who jokes as he serves rice cakes made by his wife and then he switches easily to explaining what it is like to cut open a 30-year-old man who is tied naked to abed and dissect him alive, without anesthetic.

"The fellow knew that it was over for him and so he didn't struggle when 'they led him into the room and tied ,him down," recalled the 72-year-old farmer, then a medical assistant in a Japanese army unit in China in World War II. "But when I picked up the scalpel, that's when he began screaming

"I cut him open from the chest to the stomach and he screamed terribly and his face was all twisted in agony. He made this unimaginable sound, he was screaming so horribly. But then finally he stopped. This was all in a day's work for the surgeons, but it really left an impression on me because it was my first time."

Japan really f'ed over body in their surrounding countries. In Asian Studies, I learned that they threw newborn infants on wooden pikes and burned the children to death right before their parents' eyes. Horrible.

There is a movie on these experiments called "Men Behind the Sun". Great movie, thought difficult to find. A DVD was released about a year ago finally, but still can only be found on the internet mostly. Definately check it out if you're interested in these tales.

^ It is horrific and terribly disgusting, but fascinated horror draws me to it. Perhaps I will look for it...

sadly, conflict bring large amounts of methods to display hatred towards the enemy. and sadly its intelligent people tha do it.

The japs had a way of driving a man crazy : They would tie him horizontally and place two wooden planks on both lateral sides of his head. Thy would tighten them enough as not to allow the head of the victium to move by a single cm.

The victim would be carefully positioned as so his forehead would be exactly under a pipe of running water. They would then pierce the pipe to allow a drop of water to fall every second on the mans forehead......and leave him there intil he speaks.

Doesnt seem to bad for torture but try experiencing a drop of water every second, every minute, every hour for every day.....IT EVENTUALLY drives you mad.

If the japs want to kill the man, then they simply leave him there, until the water drops actually drill a hole in his forehead.

Warning: explicit (but it's still historical)

not so sure those links are pg 13....

It's historical, just like what happened to the Jews. No use of hiding it from the public.

PS I'm glad that they dropped A-bombs on Japan now roffel

OH, that is so sad. I guess they have a way of numbing themselves, so they don't feel the emotions. They also STILL skin animals alive for meals and sell their skins. They eat live monkey brains while the poor monkey is centered under a round table with a hole cut out so the head can be seen from the top. They crack the head open and eat the brains while the monkey is still alive. My brother was station there, in Japan and these special tables are quite common...

^ but thats japanese custom thats been handed over trough generations.

Personally i would suggest reading the book ' UNIT 731' - The Japanese Army's Secret of secrets.

The book, inspired by the TVS documentary of the same title, unlocks one of the last great secrets of the second world war.

For nearly half a century, the Japanese Army Unit 731 has been shrouded in mystery. Set up in 1935 by brilliant bacteriologist Shiro Ishii, in a remote, high security headquarters in a village in Japanese-occupied Manchuria, the unit was where japanes soldier-scientists carried out freezing, ballistics and live vivisection experiments on Russian, Chinese, American, British and Australian prisoners. Ishii's aim was to make a biological weapon that would win the war for Japan. But, unlike his Nazi counterpart, Josef Mengele, Ishii had no reason to take refuge in the Jungles of south America at the end of the war. For he and his colleagues pulled off the most incredible deal with their erswhile enemies.

The book charts the top-;evel under which Unit 731's unique research data was secretly traded to the americans in return for War crimes immunity. Not a single mention is found of Unit 731 in the vast tomes of the Tokyo war crimes tribunal.

In both Japan AND Germany, there was a huge sentiment of Nationalism...National superiority. This, historically, has led to the horrific treatment of other nationalities...species from their point of view. If you really look into it, the Germans were no better or worse than the Germans.

the rape of nan king is no joke. The Chinese were tortured.

BackFire there is no doubt in my mind that Men Behind the Sun is a very cruel and hard to watch film. I personally like it for it's brutal scenes. But despite the historical background of the film. I couldn't help thinking that the film was bias in portraying all of the japanese as Evil murderers and the Chinese as the innocent victims. I'm not saying the film is purely fictional, but is more like a explotaition propaganda film to inciate anti- Japanese emotions. I have the same reaction for other Holocaust films which depicts the Germans as blood thisty murderers.

Is a defenetly worth watching film, but for those of you interested in watching the film try to read more on the events rather than take everything you see in the film as absolute truth. As for the Japanese invasion and torturing the people of Manchuria there is still plenty of evidence missing. This could give a great opportunity for anti-japanese supporters to fabricate or even corrupt any information found. So be watchful for any information out on the web.

It's not really all japanese, just all the ones that are shown are ones who undertook in these experiments. Just like in Holocaust films, they don't depict ALL germans as bad, merely the nazi's. Same in this film. The only japanese characters are the ones doing these experiments.

Yes because those hundreds of thousands of people who died ALL had something to do with these operations and experiments of course.
