another idea i just had, similar to long pig's...

make it a rule that a bio outlining ability, power level and such be posted for each character in every vs thread, that way the first five posts arent taken up by people asking who so and so is...

how about only being able to post a new thread if you add a bio link (instead of a full bio) to it.... that way you know the person has been around long enough to be able to post links and are salted enough to understand (or find out) the power differences between the characters before posting

whadaya thinkquestion

a reasonable alternative... but how long do you have to be here to post links?

I have no idea, but i made a thread the first day i joined and put up a link....or something...close....i don't think it has anything to do with how long you've been around.

i dont think i put up any links until i was here a week or two, so im not sure...

i thought you had to make a certain number of posts before you could add links

either way it would make people provide info on the combatants

yeah, which is the primary goal...

and especially if its someone like jean (who has what, 3 different incarnations at least) or superman, they should state which version...

I'm guessing this would be for people that are new to forums in general. Why? Because i've been here a short time but have gotten the idea of how to make vs. threads. The power levels, a short bio of each one at the beginning, and even settings if it matters.

I'vedone a lot of this lately

Take my Wolverine and Magnus thread or Mordru and Dr Strange but less people respond when you do this as it is not as subjective for them the facts are there in front of them.

Yes, this is true, but also those are less flashy characters. And while i find Dr. Strange a supercool dude, many don't even know who the guy is.

"not everyone will pick it up as fast as you though..."

Yes, but some will. Again, i still think sub-mods is the best sollution. Why? Because people can argue about the enforcement of rules that involve posting of threads. They can b1tch about it being tyrannical. But if they see a mod keeps killing their threads and warning them, they'll get the picture.

so you agree with me?

I agree that the best sollution so far is sub-mods. If my previous post wasn't explicit enough as to why, it's cause i'm tired and it's 1 am. So ask away and i'll reply 😛

wow... you know, it's been a while since I really actually liked a no-salty right off the bat like this. 😄 Welcome. And good point, snehin. (just don't double post too, too much and use the spellcheck. 😉)

I have been thinking... why sub-mods? Why not just make t easy on us all and just make more real mods?

And I think that forcing stats on every thread would be a great thing. And very easy to weed.

forcing stats on every thread can be seen as a "means of opression" by crazy persons. And to avoid unecessary stupidity, it's better to be avoided IMO

37 people have responded to the poll most see no problem!

Stats

The binomial distribution leans towards no problem.
The confidence intervals indicate no problem.
The test is significant at the 1 level.

Stats

I see a problem but have not responded to the poll because i am lazy and don't like polls.

the twenty two people who have replied are in favour of something being done...

full mods, sub mods, something should be done...

Thats not clear

It is not clear from the wording PR, and not how I understood it🙂

the poll is irrelevant, everyone can see in the forum that most new people either don't heed (or read) the advice given in the "read me again!" and "Searching Topics" note threads

the only way to avoid every single new member spamming and repeat threading ad infinitum is to have a basic system that requires some sort of tenure prior to thread creation

i like the bio link idea

new full mods would be good too ..... but who wants the job?.... I don't!
