I have a terrible virus on my computer. There is an incredible amount of programs infected, so many I am only going to say a few.

They have been infected by someone who is somehow communicating with me through notepad. He must have sent through a script. To be honest i don't really know but it has stopped me from opening, IE and every antivirus program. It has stopped me from opening system restore, firewall, so to be honest I seem to be very messed up. 😬

What are the solutions? Is wiping the computer clean the only option?

in situations like this, wiping the computer is the only option. if its stopped you from opening every anti virus program then it will be there until you wipe the pc and destroy it. if you have a CD/DVD writer, make sure you save all stuff that are important to you onto disk before doing so so you can load it back on. and make sure you have the program disks (eg: microsoft word). i have had to wipe my computer 3 times because of annoying virus's and evil shit like that. but after the 1st time i made sure i didnt make the same mistake of not saving my work to disk

Right. I did my research and found out that this worm has keywords which close down all prgrams which have the words in the title. It had all the Anti virus programs that I know including AVG which I am currently using due to problems with Norton.
It had the usual suspectable words like Doctor, Virus, worm, help, Norton etc.....

But for a strange reason, AVG return and i then deleted the virus, without having to find the root and delete it in safe mode. It seemed that it was hidden so i wasn't able to delete it previously even though i went to the loaction specifyed.

So anyway, there was no need to wipe the computer clean but thanks for the solutions.

P.S. Yerrsot - I had already tried that. The virus had housecall in the keywords. 😬

Can you back up your important files? If so, burn them onto disc and then reformat your computer.

Download Virus Removal Tool. Find the name of the virus, and download the patch.

If you can't access that, then let me ask you what version Norton do you have? Perhaps reinstalling it will help, or an more than up-to-date copy.

We used to do that at school, we'd grab a PC's IP, connect remotely to the computer, then take it over and talk to the user's through notepad....funny as hell....
