I tried final fantasy 8 out on the ps2 and it started to make a scratching, k-chonking 😕 noise and the system config screen came up. Then wen it said reading disk it said there was a error. 🙁 . the same happened with ff7, but it played ff9 perfectly.
Whats up with that??????
😕
Either it's your disc, your laser, or the PS2's inability to grip the CD. Try putting two pieces of scotch tape in parallel to the hole of the CD, like:

...sorta like that. I'd draw a picture on Paint but Comcast apparently has a DNS server down and I can only accesss a few webpages. The tape will help to grip the disc inside the PS2. A few of my friends had older PS2's, and this method worked like a charm.
