Reigning in metal.

Today's "metal scene" on MTV and the radio makes me want to vomit my own feces. linkin park, korn, papa roach, and nickelback are not metal and never will be. give me bands like machinehead, deicide, fear factory, prong, obituary, sepultura, ministry, KMFDM, pantera, down, and sevendust. although i have a better chance of being struck by lightning and getting bitten by a shark at the same time, rather than MTV gaining some musical integrity, right? *sigh*.................. 😠

Although I never see any form of Rock on MYV I agree that those bands suck.

Don't even try and say Korn's first 2 albums aren't metal, because they are. Different metal, but at the time they had the heaviest guitar sound ever recorded, and that's a fact I read somwhere too. In fact, Korn are more metal than Sevendust.

Sepultura are the metal gods, along with Opeth, Slayer and Dark Tranquility.

Okay Ill admit I own and love Korns first 2 albums, but everything from Follow the Leader and after................was excrement.

Despite the fact that the bands you mentioned suck (with the exception of Korn's first few releases), I don't think that being shitty necessarily means a band isn't metal. Except Nickelback, they're definitely not metal. And should be shot.

Well, maybe everyone who hadn't heard Opeth, Dark Tranquility, Shadows Fall, Soulfly, Fear Factory, Otep, God Forbid, Bleeding Through and Meshuggah.

Mastodon is noise, IMO. Not as intolerably chaotic as DEP, though. All Shall Perish is a band that deserves their 15 minutes.

I think Mastodon are incredibly melodic in most places.

And yes Def, that's pretty much everyone almost. Not exactly the most known bands. I'm just saying that Mastodon sort of brought about a wide realisation.

I mentioned Sevendust because they are , in my opinion, one the most underrated bands of all time. while its true that they are not the hardest/heaviest band out there, they NEVER sold their soul or lost their integrity like some bands (korn). plus i LOVE their music

Agreed, Sevendust are a fantastic band, although their latest album was a little weak. I have to say, a lot of their first album was extremely heavy, like B!tch and Speak, it's just most of them have minimal, vocal-driven parts in them too which softens the blow somewhat.

Lajon is amongst the greatest rock singers of all time in my opinion. He's unbelievably soulful, and powerful too.
