MSN Messenger

I recently downloaded the new version of MSN Messenger (7.0). Now I can't receive any files. I keep getting this error:

This file has been blocked because it is potentially unsafe.

I've been through the options and I can't find anything to change that'll allow me to receive files.. 😕 The file transfer tab doesn't hold many options and the few it does, doesn't relate to my problem at all.

Anyone got any ideas? cry

MSN Messenger 7.0 automaticly blocks file transfers that have the extension .scr, .exe & .pif

MSN 7 is awesome.

I think the error might be more likely to be related to your firewall than MSN.

yeah, some MP3's can get blocked too. Sorry Silver, but it IS MSN Messenger 7 that does this...

Notice though that I'm not to be held responsible if this file damages your msn or pc. I haven't tried this file myself so I don't know what's in it (but it's virus-free)

Weird. I've never had any problem sending or recieving any types of files.

.exe, .scr and .pif will always get blocked while things like .mp3 will sometimes get blocked.

I have msn 7, and just yesterday spence sent me an .exe file, and it worked fine.

I never had a problem with any trasnfers whatsoever.

perhaps you're on their blacklist ... they want you to get a virus 😱

Well.. I know for certain it wasn't my firewall. That was the first thing that popped into my head, so I disabled it for a min, still din't work.

I'll check out that file later on. Yerssot, I'll be sending you a bill if anything does mess up 😉

Yeah... I heard 7 sucked. Any way to unblock it in prefs, besides that program you linked, yerssot? Or is it permanently blocked?

Well.. 😕 Mines started working without me installing the file, but with a few people for some reason it wouldn't 😬 I installed it anyway, and I'm not having any problems at the moment..

Both Milla and Alpha Centauri have sent me .exes and I've recieved them just fine...😕 strange.

well, silver, you're the only one I know that has MSN messenger 7 where it doesn't block anything... perhaps it's an american thing? 😛

download the beta version of 7.0

the official version is crap
