That is a view based on ignorance. Please understand the meaning of the word before tarnishing other people with it. It's not very nice and doesn't do much for your own credibility.

There's good and bad in everything. There are evil goths, there are idiot goths, there are cool goths. Just like every other kind of "faction" society tends to come up with, its to segregate people into quantifiable groups, and ignorant sterotypes are formed because of it. Oh and about the church thing. In order to get the cops even REMOTELY interested, you would have to walk up to the vicar, beat him up, and shoot everyone else in attendance.
