GRRRR...!!!
Just kidding. I don't think the Wonder Twins even qualify for this discussion, and the old Aqua Man was extremely lame (anyone who's only real power is talking to fish should probably find another line of work), but I have got to go with every single incarnation of Super Man. Way too much of the "Convenience Power" (Need to see through walls? I can do that. Super Strength? Yep. Fly in space? Sure can. Frosty breath? Easy as pie. Travel back in time and blah blah blah...). Give me a break. Part of what makes heroes so interesting are their vulnerabilities. Super Man was created in a time when they had no other characters to look to for ideas and inspiration. If you ask me, his time is up.

Just curious, does anyone understand quite why he should actually be dead?

I'd say that its probably because he's one of the most iconic characters ever created by ANY comic company, that he WAS and IS still an original idea for a character, that he represents the everyday little guy's ability to rise up and become something more than he was (much like Spider-Man), and that in this day of cynicism and anti-United States and everything else that has anything to do with morals and decency, it's nice to have a comic book character for MY son to look up to that doesn't have claws or guns or anger issues or a dependency problem.
So... what's your reason?
