If he prefers Avenged, fine. It's just a bit silly to say most bands are more technically able than Dillinger, let alone Avenged who, at best, have a good technical lead guitarist.

I wont argue against that. It just comes down to preference for me. Dillinger Escape Plan makes me cringe

Anyway, I'm pretty sure A7X's guitarists are better, even if only by a small margin. At least Synyster Gates is.

It all comes down to personal preference, obviously, so no answer is right or wrong.

With regards to Avenged in general:

I did severely dislike them because all of a sudden everyone was just up their asses and they came across as idiots in their interviews on certain subjects. I think they're very immature when it comes to drugs for example. That matters none though. They obviously are serious about music, which is why it puzzles me that they contrive such a lame image. I understand being gimmicky (Slipknot have masks etc), but I think it goes a bit far with them.

Musically, I heard some of their stuff at my cousin's place and as I have said many times before, I just think they're so mediocre and not really doing anything of note. You could do worse, but you could do better. There were two songs I did like, but beyond that I don't like em. I'd not buy any of their stuff.

It's always going to be subjective on that level though.

Yeah, I like both of those songs... although I'm a fan, so I guess I like most of their music. Did you, by any chance, listen to The Wicked End?

I heard the album, I didn't like any more of it than those two songs.
